Ban Rarrá
CubaCaribe presents
Ban Rarrá (from Havana Cuba)
and Alayo Dance Company
December 2-4, 2016

(San Francisco, CA) CubaCaribe brings Ban Rarrá from Havana to the Bay to perform and teach classes! November 29 - December 4, 2016. We are excited to announce that Ban Rarrá, one of Havana's premier dance companies, will bring their fiery, mesmerizing blend of Afro-Cuban, Afro-Cuban Haitian and Cuban popular dance to the Bay Area. Ban Rarrá will join San Francisco’s Alayo Dance Company to present four performances at Dance Mission Theater in San Francisco. It has been many years since they performed in the U.S. and we are thrilled to showcase them again. Headed by master choreographer/director Isaias Rojas, Ban
Rarrá has been presenting Cuban dance traditions since their inception in 1994. Their shows are spectacular and a rare treat for Bay Area audiences! Rich with diverse dance traditions from Yoruba to Gaga to Vodu to Salsa, they offer a unique cultural
presentation that we don't normally get the opportunity to see.

Alayo Dance Company will bring an innovative fusion of Afro-Cuban modern, folkloric and popular Cuban dance to the stage. Artistic Director, Ramón Ramos Alayo, eloquently articulates his aesthetic vision through a synthesis of these dance styles,
citing from each, traditions, movements, narratives and concepts indicative of Cuban culture - a fusion that makes his company a stand out in the modern dance circuit. This significant collaboration marks the first time Alayo and Rojas and their respective
companies will share the stage in the United States despite a long friendship and professional relationship in Cuba.

In addition, members of the company will offer dance classes in Afro-Cuban, Yoruba, Afro-Haitian, Gaga, Rumba, Son, Changui, Salsa, and Salsa Rueda. Dance classes will be held at a variety of venues during the week of their residency. All performances and
classes will be open to the public.
